The bottom of the fixture should be 32 to 36 inches above the tabletop. 12 feet less 5 feet 60 inches would give you a chain length of about 7 feet.

First off i ll provide a guideline. The calculation for the chandelier height above a dining table is quite simple. The generally accepted rule for hanging dining room chandeliers is that the bottom of the fixture should hang between 30 and 36 inches above the top of the dining table. Hang your dining room chandelier between 30 and 34 inches from the tabletop for a standard 8 foot table.
