Ceiling Fan Light Pull Chain Doesn T Work

The light pull chain works fine but not the fan.

Damaged light sockets and a broken pull chain switch can also cause the fan s lights to stop working. We removed the light cover and noticed that the fan pull chain has to pull to the side but the chain comes straight down through the light in compairison the light pull chain is straight. Remove the old switch connected to the pull chain by unscrewing the wire nut it is connected to and pulling it out. Open the fan housing and take off the light kit.

When we pull on the pull chain nothing happens. Check the pull chain on the fan assembly that operates the lights. Light is off and i need it badly. Check a nearby outlet to see if it has power.

Put the new switch with pull chain into the ceiling fan twist it with the same wires the old switch was connected to and put the wire nut on the wires. Checking a few connections and making a couple of repairs can get your ceiling fan lights. The ceiling fan has a wall switch and drop down chains to turn fan on off also light chain. Fan is working by switch and chain but light chain won t pull to turn on light.

If power is out for the entire room go to your main electrical panel and locate the circuit breaker for the area. If the fan blades and the ceiling fan lights don t work the problem might be that power isn t getting to the room.
